The Defend DACA demonstration on September 10, 2017, began at MacArthur Park, marched to Echo Park for a rally, then marched to Olvera Street for a rally until after nightfall. It was sparked by an announcement by President Trump that he planned to end Obama era protections known as "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals" or "DACA." Many marched for their own rights or those of family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
